“Mimi Makes It” really started when Mary was seven years old sitting at her first sewing machine. At the age of 16, her first credit purchase was the sewing machine she is still known to use for those tough projects. (It is currently worth what she paid for it or more.) From bathing suits to “Make it With Wool”tailored coats, men’s tailored shirts, wedding dresses, and evening gowns to outdoor curtains, home decorating items and more; if it can be made with fabric, Mimi can make it!

Her current love for machine embroidery, and appliqué came about when Mary retired. (Her definition of ‘retired’ is being tired all over again.) She purchased her computerized sewing machine to make her service dog patches, then required, for them to go out in public. With the digitized designs that her machine could make, her gift giving became more and more personalized, to the point of being customizable. It has grown to the extent that the ever demanding question, “do you have a website?“ has prompted this current adventure. 

A grandmother (aka MiMi) to six wonderful grandchildren, Mary enjoys making customized gifts for them and for them to give to teachers, neighbors and friends.  Her two grandsons always have something new to spur her creativity. While her four granddaughters are still under two years of age, ‘MiMi Woof Woof’ can hardly wait to make them matching dresses. Her passion for making things has turned into a hobby that helps support the medical needs for Rescued Pits 4 Patriots retired service dogs.
