My Beach Book Appliquéd and Embroidered English and Spanish
This customized embroidered and appliquéd book uses digitized Designs by JuJu. The original book tells a story for my twin granddaughters who go with their family to the beach and a farm. It introduces words in English and Spanish. Each page has a quilted border and two pages are bound with bias tape to form one tile. The book binding is made of the coordinating fabric (which can be made to complete a nursery as well with sheets, quilts and wall hangings.). A minimum of 6 tiles is needed for a book to have any substance. The underlined words in the attached story are pages you can choose from. This book takes a minimum of 3-5 weeks to complete. The SUN 🌞 is out and it is getting hot! Mom says “Let’s go to the beach. Get my BEACH BAG with our blanket and sunscreen. Make sure to grab SUNGLASSES for everyone to protect your blue eyes. Did you put on your SWIMSUIT? Do you have your SANDALS? “.
She is in the kitchen cutting and packing 🍉 WATERMELON for our snacks. She says “Remember to get your BEACHBALL and PAILS. We will grab a special treat with Dad at the end of the day if we are good listeners.”
When we get to the beach, we build a SANDCASTLE and pretend to be MERMAIDS with our cousin, N. My SISTER, V has her BEACH TOWEL spread out on the SAND. My BROTHER, T, is already SURFING. The BOY SWIMMING is my other brother, C. I am the GIRL SWIMMING.
We see a WHALE off in the distance, blowing water out of the sea. Someone yells SHARK! and we look carefully. It is really a DOLPHIN, so we are safe to keep swimming. There is a SEAHORSE, A TURTLE, an OCTOPUS and a FISH.
A CRAB crawls along the beach as we head to the tide pools. There we see a CLAM and a STARFISH.
It has been a long, busy day as we pack up our things and head home. Dad is waiting at the car and Mom tells him how we have all been good listeners. “That is just the news I wanted to hear.” he says, “Let’s go get an 🍦 ICE CREAM CONE to celebrate!”
